The bid submitted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Fédération Internationale de Football Association "FIFA" identified five cities to host the FIFA World Cup 2034: Riyadh, Jeddah, al Khobar, Abha, and NEOM.
Riyadh
Riyadh is the capital of the Kingdom, one of its most vibrant and prosperous cities, and the largest in terms of area and population. It is the administrative and financial center of the Kingdom. The city is preparing to be part of hosting global sporting events such as the AFC Asian Cup 2027 and the Asian Games 2034. Riyadh City will be ready for the FIFA World Cup with eight world-class stadiums: King Salman International Stadium, King Fahd Sports City Stadium, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Stadium, Murabba Stadium, ROSHN Stadium, King Saud University Stadium, Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Sports City Stadium, and South Riyadh Stadium. It is proposed that Riyadh, specifically King Salman International Stadium, will host the opening and final matches of the FIFA World Cup 2034. Riyadh also includes King Salman Park, the largest urban park in the world, and the Qiddiya Large Festival Grounds, which are proposed sites for the FIFA Fan Festival. Fans can access these locations through the six-line Riyadh Metro and other transportation options. Riyadh will also be ready for the event with 127,000 room keys and fifty-four training sites.
Jeddah
Jeddah is the second-largest city in the Kingdom in terms of area. It is distinguished by its coastal location, as well as its prestigious status as a commercial center. Jeddah offers a unique blend of authenticity and modernity and hosts a historic area known as 'Jeddah al-Balad,' which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Jeddah City will be ready for the FIFA World Cup 2034 with four world-class stadiums: King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, 'al-Jawhara,' King Abdullah Economic City Stadium, Central Jeddah Stadium, and Qiddiya Coast Stadium. The city has an expansive bus network, enabling fans around the city to reach the proposed sites for the FIFA Fan Festival, Khuzam Park, and the Jeddah Waterfront. Jeddah will also be ready for the global event with 43,000 room keys and thirty training sites.
Al-Khubar
Al Khobar is a modern, dynamic city on the Arabian Gulf coast in the Eastern Province of the Kingdom. It is an essential part of the urban center of the province. Al Khobar will be ready for the FIFA World Cup 2034 with a world-class stadium, Aramco Stadium, which can accommodate 46,000 spectators, twelve training sites, and 17,000 room keys. Additionally, there will be an efficient multimodal transportation network for fan transportation to the proposed sites for the FIFA Fan Festival, King Abdullah Park, and King Fahd Park.
Abha
Abha City is the administrative capital of Aseer Province in the southwest of the Kingdom. It is located at an elevation of 2,270 m above sea level in the Sarawat Mountains. The city will be ready for the event with a world-class stadium, King Khalid University Stadium with a capacity of 45,000 seats, in addition to nine training sites and 19,000 room keys. The city is developing a comprehensive transportation network focused on public transportation, micro-mobility, pedestrian walkways, and easy mobility between different areas of the city. This will support fan transportation to the proposed sites for the FIFA Fan Festival, al-Bihar Square, and al-Dhabab Park.
NEOM
NEOM City is one of the products of Saudi Vision 2030. It is located in the northwest of the Kingdom on the Red Sea coast, and embodies one of the most innovative development projects globally. It consists of a group of major projects connected by The Line, the innovative linear city. NEOM will be ready for the FIFA World Cup 2034 with NEOM Stadium, characterized by its elevation of more than 350 m above ground level. Its roof extends as part of the city's skyline, offering an exceptional and unprecedented football match experience, and embodying one of the world's most prominent landmarks. After the tournament, NEOM Stadium will become the main stadium for one of the professional football clubs. There will also be four training sites and 24,000 room keys for the tournament.
