The Emirate of al-Madinah Province is one of the emirates of the thirteen provinces in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, organizationally affiliated with the Ministry of Interior. Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz al-Saud has been the incumbent governor of the province since 2023. Prince Saud bin Khalid bin Faisal has been serving as deputy governor of the province since 2017.

The location of Emirate of al-Madinah Province

The Emirate of al-Madinah Province was established after the unification of the Kingdom. It conducts its business from its headquarters in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, located on Omar bin al-Khattab Road, approximately twenty-one km away from Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International Airport. The Emirate of al-Madinah Province adopts the visual identity of the Ministry of Interior as its logo.

Governorates and centers of the Emirate of al-Madinah Province

The Emirate of al-Madinah Province oversees eight governorates. Category (A) governorates include: Yanbu, al-Ula, al-Mahd, and al-Henakiyah. Category (B) governorates include four governorates: Badr, Khaybar, al-Ais, and Wadi al-Far'. Altogether, they comprise approximately 101 centers.

Emirate of al-Madinah Province tasks

The primary tasks of the Emirate of al-Madinah Province encompass coordinating and collaborating with government entities during planning stages to ensure all services are provided to both citizens and residents. This comes in addition to receiving their complaints, looking into their concerns, striving to meet their demands, and resolving their issues. The emirate also focuses on maintaining security, overseeing the delivery of justice within the province, ensuring the efficacy and efficiency of services provided to the province's inhabitants, and working to enhance and develop services.

Area and population of al-Madinah Province

The province has a population of approximately 2,137,983 people, according to the 2022 Saudi census, which is equivalent to 6.6 percent of the Kingdom's population. The population density is around 14.2 people per km of its territory. Its total area is about 150,000 km, representing 7.7 percent of the Kingdom's total area.
