Sports Tower is a landmark within the Sports Boulevard project in Riyadh City, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The designs for the tower were approved by the Board of Directors of the Sports Boulevard Foundation, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, crown minister and prime minister, on July 10, 2024. The tower is set to be the tallest sports tower in the world.
Sports Tower specifications
The Sports Tower is located in Riyadh City on Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Road, within the Sports Boulevard project that stretches from Wadi Hanifah in the west to Wadi al-Sulai in the east. It contributes to achieving one of the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to create a sustainable urban environment that supports quality of life, and it is the first sports tower of its kind in the world, standing at approximately 130 m and covering an area of 84,000 m². The tower also includes the highest climbing wall in the world at ninety-eight m and the highest running track at 250 m.
The tower aims to achieve the goals of the Sports Boulevard project and enhance the quality of life in Riyadh by promoting sports and empowering the community to adopt healthy lifestyles through facilities that foster a culture of sports among community members.
Sports Tower design
The design of the Sports Tower includes sports facilities for approximately thirty different sports, all designed to international standards, such as baseball, basketball, padel, tennis, five-a-side football, squash, ice hockey, judo, and karate. The facilities aim to promote a culture of sports, meet the needs of athletes and enthusiasts, and include special amenities for people with disabilities.
The design of the Sports Tower incorporates the urban code of the Sports Boulevard, which is based on Salmani architectural principles that blend originality with modernity.
