How Many Universities Are in the Eastern Province?

The Eastern Province of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has five universities located across various cities. Four of these are public universities: King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) in Dhahran City, King Faisal University in al-Ahsa Governorate, Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University in Dammam City, and University of Hafr al-Batin in Hafr al-Batin City. Additionally, there is one private university, Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University, located in al-Khobar City.
The KFUPM was the first university established in the Eastern Province, founded in 1963. A year later, it began accepting its first cohort of sixty-seven students on September 23, 1964. At that time, it was known as the College of Petroleum and Minerals (CPM).
