SPA Academy for News Training, is a non-profit training facility specializing in the development of media personnel in the news sector. It was inaugurated on October 17, 2024, at the Saudi Press Agency building and is considered one of the strategic projects of the agency’s development plan.
Goals of SPA Academy for News Training
SPA Academy for News Training leverages the capabilities and resources of the Saudi Press Agency and its international partnerships to transfer global best practices. It also draws on the expertise of its staff to support the news industry and train media professionals through practical programs offered in collaboration with leading international and local partners.
The academy aims to work on developing advanced news skills to meet market demands and contribute to supporting the transfer of knowledge, technology, and modern tools into the journalistic and news field, and stimulating understanding of news issues and global challenges, alongside benefiting from the expertise of Saudi Press Agency "SPA" personnel.
Programs offered by SPA Academy for News Training
SPA Academy for News Training offers a variety of training programs, including short specialized training programs for media affairs personnel in the government, private, and non-profit sectors, and long programs including the Applied Media Development Program for fresh graduates, supported by the Human Resources Development Fund "Hadaf", including tracks such as news and media production, graphics, translation and communication, media planning, and influence.

SPA Academy for News Training targets journalists, professionals, technicians, and photographers in the media field, along with media affairs officials and media students in various entities.
Inauguration of SPA Academy for News Training
SPA Academy for News Training was launched on February 29, 2024, during the Human Capability Development Initiative Conference held in Riyadh. It was inaugurated on October 17, 2024, at the Saudi Press Agency “SPA” building in Riyadh, featuring a visual presentation on the academy’s founding, alongside the signing of memorandums of understanding between the academy and various entities, including the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, the Human Resources Development Fund “Hadaf,” and the National Center for E-Learning.
Partners of SPA Academy for News Training
SPA Academy for News Training was established in collaboration with the Human Capability Development Program to contribute to achieving Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 by providing practical programs supported by international and local partnerships. Initial phase partners include: the Technical and Vocational Training Corporation, the Institute of Public Administration, the Prince Mohammed Bin Salman College for Business and Entrepreneurship, the Human Resources Development Fund "Hadaf", Sky News Arabia Academy, and the Austrian International Center for Qualification and Quality.
