The city of Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is home to six public universities out of the total number of public universities in Saudi Arabia, which stands at thirty universities. These are: Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, King Saud University, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, the Saudi Electronic University, and Riyadh University for the Arts, and it also has seven private universities, namely: the Arab Open University, Prince Sultan University, Alfaisal University, Al-Yamamah University, Dar Al-Uloom University, Riyadh Elm University​, and AlMaarefa University.
