The first issue of al-Jazirah Newspaper was published in April 1960 by al-Jazirah Corporation for Press, Printing, and Publishing. It is among the first newspapers that were published daily in Riyadh, upon the issue of a Royal Decree in 1963 to terminate the individual ownership of local magazines and newspapers and convert them into public establishments. It was published monthly before such instance and began publishing weekly issues as of June 30, 1964. Its issues were published daily as of September 20, 1972.
