The difference is both administrative and geographical. Tabuk Province is one of the thirteen administrative provinces of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, covering a defined administrative and geographical area that includes Tabuk City along with six other governorates: Al-Wajh, Duba, Tayma, Umluj, Haql, and Al-Bidaa, as well as seventy-three administrative centers.

Tabuk Province derives its name from Tabuk City, as it is the seat of the Emirate of Tabuk Province and its government entities. It is the largest and most densely populated city in the province.

Tabuk Province is located in the northwest of Saudi Arabia, and Tabuk City occupies the northeastern part of the province. It is separated from the Red Sea coast by Duba Governorate.

Administratively, the cities of Saudi Arabia take on the designation of a governorate, and there are thirteen cities that serve as administrative capitals of the provinces and seats of the emirates, including Tabuk City.
