Riyadh Expo 2030 will take place in an area close to King Khalid International Airport and the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC). The proposed master plan for Riyadh Expo 2030 combines the concepts of an oasis and a garden, from which the name of the city of Riyadh is derived. The plan is characterized by the design of a futuristic city around an ancient valley, with a total area of 6,000,000 m², including a fenced area of approximately 3,380,000 m² dedicated to interactive experiences, 2,620,000 m² for services and facilities, and 432,000 m² for international pavilions.

Expo 2030 Official Registration File

On March 7, 2025, Saudi Arabia submitted the official registration file to host World Expo 2030 in Riyadh to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE). The submission of the file marked one of the most important stages in Saudi Arabia's preparation for hosting Expo 2030, as it represents the foundational starting point for implementing practical plans and beginning preparations for the global event. It also demonstrates Saudi Arabia’s commitment to fulfilling its international obligations and confirms its high organizational capacity and potential to host global events. The file was reviewed by the International Bureau of Exhibitions and member states in preparation for official approval by the General Assembly, allowing Saudi Arabia to begin practical preparations and send official invitations for international participation through diplomatic channels.

Saudi Arabia was selected to host Expo 2030 in 2023 through a secret ballot during the BIE General Assembly meeting held in Paris. Saudi Arabia's bid received 119 votes from member states, competing against two other cities: Busan in South Korea and Rome in Italy.
