His Excellency Majid Bin Abdullah Bin Hamad al-Hogail is the Minister of Municipalities and Housing of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He served as the Minister of Housing until January 24, 2021, when a royal order was issued ordaining the joining of the Ministry of Housing and the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, in a single body. Al-Hogail is the third minister to assume the housing portfolio before its merging with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs.
His education
He received a bachelor's degree in Accounting from King Saud University in 1985, then enrolled at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1998 and 1999, to earn a master's degree in Business Administration (MBA). In 1999, he received a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Certification in New Mexico. He participated in the Program for Executive Development of the International Institute for Management Development in Lausanne, Switzerland, in 2007.
His career
Al-Hogail served as Deputy Chief Financial Officer at the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (previously) from 1990 to 1998.
He served as Director of Finance, Chief Financial Officer, and Director General of Export at al-Safi Danone from 2003 to 2007.
He was selected as a Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of RAFAL Real Estate Development Co. from 2007 to 2015. The Rafal Residential Tower (Burj Rafal), which stands at a height surpassing three hundred m, was established and inaugurated in 2015, and won seven architectural awards in 2015.
Al-Hogail was commissioned as the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs in February 2020, alongside his duties as Minister of Housing.
He was then appointed Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing by royal order after the consolidation of the two ministries on January 24, 2021.
