
Saudi clubs have won the Gulf Club Champions League thirteen times over forty-one years. The Gulf Club Champions League was launched in 1982, and it is a regional tournament that brings together the champions of the leagues in the Gulf countries. A new system for the championship was introduced in the 2007 season, where the number of participating teams increased from six to twelve, following the inclusion of the winning clubs from the cup competition.
1- Al-Ettifaq Club
In 1983, the tournament was held in a home-and-away format, with six teams divided into two groups. The top team from each group advanced to the final, which Qatar hosted at Khalifa International Stadium. Saudi Al-Ettifaq won against Kuwaiti Al-Arabi, one goal to zero.
2- Al-Ahli Saudi Club
The tournament's third edition was the last to be held in the home-and-away format, with the final match taking place at Al-Wasl Stadium in Dubai on February 22, 1985. Al-Ahli Club defeated the Kuwaiti Al-Arabi Club, two to zero, becoming the second Saudi team to win the title.
3- Al-Hilal Club
Al-Hilal Club hosted the fourth edition in 1986, which was the first tournament to be held in a round-robin format. Saudi clubs continued their dominance, with Al-Hilal winning the title, while the Qatari Al-Arabi Club finished in the second place.
4- Al-Ettifaq Club
Saudi clubs reclaimed the cup through Al-Ettifaq, which won for the second time in the sixth tournament hosted by Sharjah Club, United Arab Emirates, in 1988, defeating the Kuwaiti Kazma Club in the final match with a score of two to one.
5- Al-Shabab Club
The tenth edition was held in Riyadh in 1993, and Al-Shabab Club won the title against the Qatari Al-Arabi Club in a tournament held on a points system.
6- Al-Shabab Club
Al-Shabab Club retained its title in the eleventh tournament hosted by Kuwait in 1994, with the Kuwaiti Al-Arabi Club finishing second.
7- Al-Nassr Club
The East Riffa Club hosted the thirteenth tournament in 1995. Al-Nassr Club won the title, and the Omani Dhofar Club finished second.
8- Al-Nassr Club
In 1996, Qatar hosted the fourteenth Gulf Club Champions League, organized by the Qatari Al-Rayyan Club. Al-Nassr Club successfully retained the cup for the second consecutive time after competing in a final match against Kazma to determine the champion.
9- Al-Hilal Club
Al-Hilal Club won the championship for the second time in its history, winning the fifteenth tournament hosted by the Omani Sur Club in 1997. The Bahraini Al-Riffa Club finished in second place.
10- Al-Ittihad Club
The sixteenth tournament was held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1999, hosted by Al-Ittihad Club, and the club won the title against the Kuwaiti Al-Salmiya Club and the Bahraini Al-Riffa Club.
11- Al-Ahli Saudi Club
In 2002, Al-Ahli Club won the nineteenth Gulf Club Champions League, defeating the Omani Dhofar Club two to zero, with the Bahraini Al-Muharraq Club finishing second.
12- Al-Ettifaq Club
The twenty-second edition of the tournament was held in 2006, with twelve teams participating. Al-Ettifaq Club won the title after drawing one to zero with the Kuwaiti Al-Qadsia Club in the second leg of the final, having won the first leg one to zero.
13- Al-Ahli Saudi Club
The twenty-fourth edition of the tournament was held in 2008, with nine clubs divided into two groups. The final stages were held in a home-and-away format. The final featured two Saudi clubs, Al-Nassr and Al-Ahli Clubs, with the first leg in Jeddah ending one to zero in favor of Al-Ahli, and the second in Riyadh finishing two to zero in favor of Al-Ahli, making it the club's third championship win.
