The FEI World Cup Finals for Dressage and Showjumping 2024 is the forty-fifth edition of the international competition between elite equestrians in showjumping. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia hosted the final in the capital, Riyadh, from April 17-20, 2024. It marks the first time the championship has been held in the Middle East, as the Kingdom was selected to host by the International Federation for Equestrian Sports (FEI) in 2019.
About the FEI World Cup
The Kingdom has hosted the forty-fifth edition of the FEI World Cup at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center. It is the twelfth state to hold the competition's finals. The inaugural edition was held in Sweden in 1978, and the country proceeded to host the next fifteen editions. The United States of America hosted twelve editions, Germany hosted five, France hosted three, and the Netherlands and Switzerland each hosted two editions. Additionally, Britain, Austria, Finland, Italy, and Malaysia each hosted one edition.
The Kingdom is the first Arab country to host the competition's events, the first in the Middle East, and the second in Asia after Malaysia, which hosted the competition in 2006.
Saudi Arabia's journey hosting the FEI World Cup Finals
The Kingdom's journey to host the FEI World Cup Finals began on November 17, 2019, when the FEI announced its selection of the Kingdom to host the championship after meeting all hosting criteria and receiving approval from all members.
Between February 16 and 18, 2023, the Riyadh International Showjumping Championship was held at the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center, featuring eighty-one male and female riders from the Kingdom, Jordan, Algeria, Norway, Italy, Bahrain, Thailand, and Lebanon. This championship serves as a preparatory event for the FEI World Cup Finals 2024.
The Kingdom received the official rights to host the forty-fifth edition of the completion on April 9, 2023, during the closing ceremony of the FEI World Cup Finals 2023 in Omaha, USA.
The Saudi Equestrian Sports Events Company
The FEI World Cup Finals 2024 event is organized by the Saudi Equestrian Events Company (SEEc), which was established by the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation (SAEF) to organize local and international equestrian events.
