Rima Saleh Ahmed al-Yahya has been a member of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since 2020. She has held various positions at the Ministry of Education, Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, and Prince Sultan University.

Academic qualifications of Rima al-Yahya

Rima al-Yahya attended King Saud University in Riyadh, where she obtained both bachelor's and master's degrees in English Language and Literature. She earned her doctorate in the same specialty from Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University.

Professional career of Rima al-Yahya

Rima al-Yahya served as Head of the Department of English Language and Translation at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University from 2007 to 2011. She was Deputy Minister for Private Higher Education at the Ministry of Education from 2019 to 2021. At Prince Sultan University, she held several positions including Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Acting Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Research, Dean of the College of Humanities, Dean of the Women's College, and Vice Dean. She was appointed to the Shura Council in 2020.

Activities of Rima al-Yahya

Rima al-Yahya has participated in several conferences and symposia. Her contributions included: 'Rumi’s Children and the Search for Fatima' in the International Journal of Arts and Sciences in 2011, 'American Imaginary Plays: Links between European and American Expressive Drama' in the Mediterranean Journal of Social Sciences in 2012, and 'Abusive Treatment of Paranoid Sufferers in Joe Orton’s plays' in Zarqa Journal for Research and Human Studies in 2012.

Rima al-Yahya has served on several committees, including the Board of Trustees of al-Farabi College in Riyadh and Jeddah, the Advisory Committee for Postgraduate Studies at the College of Education, the Supreme Committee for Tobacco Control at the Ministry of Health, the Saudi Scientific Society for Languages and Translation at Imam Muhammad Bin Saud University, the Distance Education Continuity Committee at the Ministry of Education, and the Sports Federation at the Ministry of Education.

Additionally, she has been a member of various committees at Prince Sultan University, including the University Board of Trustees, the Higher Committee for Risk Management, and the University Council. At Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University, she participated in the University Council, the Curriculum Committee, and the Saudi Employment Committee.

Rima al-Yahya in the Shura Council

Rima al-Yahya was appointed as a member of the Shura Council on October 20, 2020. She has been assigned the position of Deputy Chair of the Education and Scientific Research Committee. This committee reviews and discusses topics, laws, and regulations referred by the council, prepares reports containing its opinions and recommendations, and submits them to the council for discussion and approval.

She is also a member of the sixth Parliamentary Friendship Committee in the Shura Council, which includes the Parliaments of the following countries: the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Cuba, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Costa Rica, and Haiti.
