Prince Sultan University is a non-profit Saudi university located in Riyadh, the capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Established in 1998 during the tenure of King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as the Governor of Riyadh, who played an active role in its founding, it was initially a college before becoming a university. Named in honor of Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, it was a gift from the people of Riyadh upon his return from a medical trip. It is one of the first private non-profit colleges in the Kingdom.
Prince Sultan University is the first private university to receive full institutional accreditation from the National Center for Academic Accreditation and Evaluation (NCAAA). Through its six colleges, it offers twenty-two programs, including both undergraduate and graduate degrees.
History of Prince Sultan University
The announcement of the establishment of Prince Sultan University was made in 1998 during a ceremony attended by Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, following his return from a medical trip abroad.
In 1998, the Ministry of Higher Education (now the Ministry of Education) granted a license to establish Prince Sultan College as one of the first private colleges in the Kingdom. Studies began at the end of 1998, and in the following academic year, 2000, the college started accepting its first cohort. In April 2001, Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz officially inaugurated the college during a ceremony held for the occasion.
Instructions were issued to transition it from a college to a university in 2000-2001 and to develop its academic programs. In 2001-2002, the then Ministry of Higher Education approved the establishment of the College for Women following a directive from King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, who was then the Governor of Riyadh Province. Subsequently, the Council of Higher Education and Universities decided to upgrade it to a university, and the first cohort of students graduated.
Colleges of Prince Sultan University
Prince Sultan University comprises six colleges: the College of Architecture and Design, which includes Architecture and Interior Design; the College of Business Administration, offering programs in Aviation Management, Accounting, Marketing, and Finance, and an MBA, and MBA for military college graduates, accredited by AACSB and the CFA Institute; the College of Computer and Information Sciences, with programs in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Master's in Cybersecurity, and Certified Credentials (C4C); the College of Engineering, covering Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Production and Manufacturing Engineering Management, Communication and Networks Engineering, Construction Engineering, and Master's Engineering Management; the College of Humanities and Sciences, offering Translation and Applied Linguistics; and the College of Law, with programs in Master's in Law and Commercial Law.

In the academic year 2022-2023, Prince Sultan University had a total of 5,712 male and female undergraduate students, including 1,148 in the preparatory year, and 270 male and female graduate students. The university employed 577 faculty members and 414 administrative staff. The total number of male and female graduates from both undergraduate and graduate programs reached 7,656.
