The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) publishes its local and international news in six languages: Arabic, English, French, Persian, Russian, and Chinese.
'SPA' was established in 1971, and its headquarters is located in Riyadh City. It is the national news agency in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was founded to serve as a central body for collecting and distributing local and international news within the Kingdom and abroad.
Saudi Press Agency (SPA) is a founding member of the Federation of Arab News Agencies, the Gulf News Agency, and the Islamic News Agency (Union of OIC News Agencies). By a decision issued by the Council of Ministers in 2012, the agency was converted into a public authority called the Saudi Press Agency.
In February 2023, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) Regulation was issued, which stipulated that the agency shall have an independent legal personality, financial and administrative autonomy -as a public authority- organizationally linked to the Minister of Media, covering and following various events, issues, and activities on the local, regional, and international levels, particularly those related to the Kingdom.
