Mamdouh Bin Saud Bin Thunayan

His Highness Prince Dr. Mamdouh Bin Saud Bin Thunayan Al Saud was the President of the Islamic University in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah between 2020 and 2023. He served as the Vice President of Shaqra University from 2017 to 2020. He chaired the Board of Directors of the Master's Program in Renewable Energy and the Center for Sustainable Energy Technologies at King Saud University.

Prince Mamdouh completed undergraduate studies at King Saud University in the capital, Riyadh, where he graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering in 1996. He pursued his postgraduate studies there to obtain a Master's degree in the same specialization in 2000. He then enrolled at McMaster University in Canada, where he earned his Ph.D. in the same specialization in 2007.

He holds two patents from the United States of America, one for developing solar cells-integrated tracking devices, and the other for designing multiple vertical wind power turbines linked to a single generator.

Before assuming his position as President of the Islamic University in 2020, Prince Mamdouh served as Vice President of Shaqra University from 2017 to 2020, for three years. He also held several roles at King Saud University, where he was an associate professor at the College of Engineering. He chaired the Board of the Master's Program in Renewable Energy from 2016 to 2018, and the Center for Sustainable Energy Technologies from 2014 to 2017. Additionally, he supervised the Saudi Chair in Power System Security and Reliability.

Prince Mamdouh served as Vice Dean of the Advanced Manufacturing Institute from 2012 to 2017. Before that, he was the Vice President of the Center of Excellence for Research in Engineering Materials from 2009 to 2012. Additionally, between 2013 and 2014, he worked as a part-time consultant at the Energy Research Institute at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST).

Prince Mamdouh has been a consultant in the Renewable Energy Committee at the Riyadh Chamber of Commerce since 2018. He also served as a member of the Scholarships and Training Committee at Shaqra University, in addition to his membership in several committees, including the Committee for Restructuring University Colleges, Chairman of the Bid Examination Committee, Member of the Lecturers and Instructors Committee, Chairman of the Competitions and Job Promotions Committee, the Digital Transformation Committee at Shaqra University, the Development of Institutional Key Performance Indicators Committee, and the Curriculum Committee at the College of Engineering at King Saud University.

Prince Mamdouh supervised a number of postgraduate students in master's and doctoral programs. He has published thirty scientific papers in scientific journals and sixteen scientific papers in scientific conferences in several fields, including: reliability and security assessment of electrical power systems, design and operation of electrical networks, applications of artificial intelligence in the design of electrical power systems, and the efficiency of energy systems and renewable energy technologies.
