Shaqra University is one of the Saudi public universities, and one of the fourteen universities established during the reign of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The university was established in 2009 in Shaqra Governorate, Riyadh Province.
The university is famous for its geographical location, as it is situated above the Najd Plateau, in the center of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It includes twenty-two faculties, making it one of the ten largest Saudi universities in terms of faculty number. Its faculties are distributed as follows: six in Shaqra Governorate, four in Sajir, Thadiq, Dhurma, and al-Muzahmiya, two in Afif, three in al-Quway'iyah Governorate, and seven in al-Dawadmi Governorate.
According to the 2020 statistics, the number of male and female students exceeds 37,988, alongside 1,060 faculty members, which represents the global ideal rate for the number of faculty members to students, which is one faculty member for every sixteen students.
