Releases by Manga Productions
In terms of television series, Manga has produced "Future's Folktales", an anime series situated in the future city of Riyadh. The story draws inspiration from many tales of the heritage culture of Saudi Arabia.
"The Journey" is considered Manga's most prominent production. It is the result of cooperation between Manga Productions and Japan's Toei Animation, which the two companies started in November 2017. Manga Productions composed the idea of the film and participated in its production to present and spread awareness about ancient civilizations in the Arabian Peninsula in an attractive and high-quality animation.
Manga Productions also produced "Woodcutter’s Treasure", an animated cartoon that tells a story inspired by popular folktales from the village of Ushaiqer in Saudi Arabia. The film was directed by Kazuhisa Takenouchi, and the characters were designed by Hiroshi Shimizu, who has previously worked on several animations. The animated cartoon is the first outcome of the Saudi-Japanese joint artistic cooperation, and it has been produced in both Arabic and Japanese.
Manga Productions has also launched a new cooperation within the framework of the Grendizer project entitled PROJECT G with several globally renowned Japanese partners, including Dynamic Planning, which owns the rights to Grendizer. The project was launched as part of the Gamers8 event in Boulevard Riyadh City in 2022. It gives the audience the chance to take part in a global competition to design a mechanical enemy inspired by the “Saucer Beasts” from the world of Grendizer to be used in the new project, which makes this a unique experience in Japanese productions.
Furthermore, Manga Productions has also offered many products besides films and television series. For example, it has produced Ghoul’s Cave, which is a free-to-play strategy game inspired by one of the episodes of the Saudi anime series Future's Folktales. Manga Productions has also developed "Dhafer the Champion", a free-to-play runner game like no other, inspired by another episode of Future's Folktales. In the same context, Manga Productions produced a comic book entitled BISSA, which tells the story of a cat lost in the streets of Jeddah.
