Maysan (Muḥāfad͟hat Maysān) is a governorate in Makkah Al-Mukarramah Province, west of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It ranks second among the least populated governorates in the province after Al-Kamil Governorate, where 0.35% of the region's population, estimated at 28,765 people, live, according to the Saudi census 2022.

Location

Maysan Governorate is located in south-central Makkah Al-Mukarramah, about 190 km east of Makkah Al-Mukarramah City, the seat of the emirate. It is bordered from the east by Turbah Governorate, from the south by Al-Bahah Province, from the west by Adham and Al-Lith governorates, and from the north by Taif Governorate.

Services

Maysan Governorate is served by Taif International Airport, which is the closest airport to it, located 130 km away.

The governorate can be reached via Highway 15, which begins at the Al-Wadeeah border crossing in the south of Saudi Arabia and ends at the Saudi-Jordanian border in the north. This highway serves as the main land transport route for travel to and from Maysan
