Second Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum
The Second Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum is the second edition of a gathering that brings together individuals working in the humanitarian field and organizations related to humanitarian work, both locally and internationally. Attendees discuss key issues, identify the field's needs, identify practical solutions, and drive change based on its values. The forum is held biennially in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief).
The second edition of the forum was held in 2020 in Riyadh City for two days, with the participation of one hundred organizations and the representatives of eighty countries from around the world. The sessions featured nine sessions in which fifty speakers, including researchers, academics, and decision-makers from local and international humanitarian agencies and organizations took part. The second edition also featured the conclusion of sixteen agreements.
Objectives of the Second Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum
The second edition of the Riyadh International Humanitarian Forum aimed to achieve sustainable outcomes by promoting global humanitarian standards. It also sought to bridge gaps between the development and humanitarian fields, develop effective and innovative solutions, and adopt and disseminate the best practices in addressing humanitarian health challenges arising during crises, disasters, and epidemics. It also aimed to develop existing mechanisms and practices to address the hardships facing refugees and displaced worldwide, whether in their countries of origin or host regions. Moreover, it sought to exchange experiences and practices in dealing with violence and extremism, explore ways to support children, women, and youth affected by disasters and conflicts, and improve the effectiveness and quality of humanitarian efforts to keep pace with the evolving humanitarian landscape.
