Saudi Society of Forensic Medicine
The Saudi Society of Forensic Medicine is a scientific society acting as a link between organizations interested in the field of forensic medicine and its disciplines, and works to elevate the level of forensic competency in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, contributing to the support and empowerment of forensic doctors, through training courses, scientific conferences, and discussion panels.
The society was established by a decision from the Board of Trustees of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties in 2008, with its headquarters in King Fahd Security College in Riyadh.
Objectives of Saudi Society of Forensic Medicine
The Saudi Society of Forensic Medicine aims to achieve competency in the field of forensic medicine in Saudi Arabia, by improving the scientific and professional levels of forensic medicine, and developing the scientific and professional performance of the society's members, providing opportunities for members to contribute to scientific and professional progress, and facilitating the exchange of scientific and professional productions and ideas between institutions and bodies inside and outside Saudi Arabia, with society's interests.
The society provides scientific advice and studies to improve performance within its interests, participates in setting standards for the profession within its specialty, oversees its performance and preserves it, and contributes to raising social awareness in the field of forensic medicine.
Activities of the Saudi Society for Forensic Medicine
The Saudi Society of Forensic Medicine conducts various tasks and activities, such as organizing conferences, seminars, and study sessions to examine societal issues, encouraging research and studies and facilitating their exchange with relevant parties, providing training courses and educational programs to members in official and private sectors with the same specialization, and focusing on publications like magazines or periodic bulletins.
The society also engages in training and continuous education programs, local and international exhibitions and seminars, invites scholars and intellectuals to participate in its activities, evaluates professional qualifications and performance in the society's specialization, and accredits health institutions to provide services while offering technical consultancy for activities, practices, and health procedures.
Participation of the Saudi Society of Forensic Medicine in international conferences
The Saudi Society of Forensic Medicine participated in the second International Forensic Medicine Conference, held in 2015, and the second Annual International Conference of the International Association of Law and Forensic Sciences in Istanbul, Turkey in 2016, and the eighty-sixth Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences in Las Vegas in 2016.
The society also participated in the Second Saudi International Conference for Forensic Medicine and Forensic Sciences, held in the capital Riyadh in 2017.
