Establishment of Saudi Halal Center

The Saudi Halal Center was established on October 1, 2019, after the Council of Ministers approved a national ecosystem to handle "Halal" products, to be launched and overseen by SFDA. The center operates from its headquarters in the capital, Riyadh.

Services of Saudi Halal Center

The center offers several services, including issuing accreditation certificates in five steps, from submitting the applications through the online portal to making a field visit to the facility to obtain the certificate. The certificate includes the Halal Certificate for Factories, the Halal Certificate for Conformity Bodies, the Halal logo, and the Shipment Certificate.

Tasks of Saudi Halal Center

Saudi Halal Center has several tasks and responsibilities, including issuing Halal certificates for establishments and products, granting the Halal logo, providing training services in the Halal field, issuing accreditation certificates for Halal certification bodies abroad, conducting research and studies related to the center's scope of work through cooperation with universities and research centers, and maintaining continuous supervision over products and manufacturing and exporting entities.

Since its establishment, the center has accredited around sixty-four local and international entities, whose activities range from importation into Saudi Arabia to exportation abroad. The center collaborates with about sixty facilities worldwide. Additionally, fifty entities have obtained Halal certification and logo issuance in thirty countries. This certification helps facilitate importation and exportation procedures through the Halal logo, which is a requirement in several Islamic countries. It also contributes to marketing products abroad and enables national companies to expand into local markets.
