Riyadh Marathon 2025
Riyadh Marathon 2025 is the fourth official full marathon to be held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, sanctioned by World Athletics (WA), formerly known as the International Amateur Athletic Federation and the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). It aims to empower members of the community to engage in physical activity. The marathon is organized under the supervision of the Saudi Sports for All Federation, in cooperation with the Ministry of Sport, the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, and the Saudi Arabian Athletics Federation (SAAF).
Riyadh Marathon 2025 Races
Riyadh Marathon 2025 includes four races designed to appeal to people of all ages and fitness levels. The first race is a 42.2 km full marathon; the second is a 21.1 km half marathon; the third is a 10 km race for adults aged seventeen and above; and the fourth is a 4 km race for beginners, children, and families.
Number of Participants in Riyadh Marathon 2025
Riyadh Marathon 2025, which took place on Saturday, February 8, 2025, attracted 40,494 runners from 131 countries and included participants of all age groups and fitness levels. Cash prizes totaling more than USD210,000 were awarded to the top ten finishers in the full marathon and the top six finishers in the half marathon. The marathon featured four races—a 42 km full marathon, a 21 km half marathon, a 10 km race, and a 4 km family run—as participants took on a challenging and scenic route through Riyadh before reaching the finish line at Kingdom Arena. Saudi runners accounted for 67 percent of the total number of participants, demonstrating the growing popularity of long-distance running in Saudi Arabia, while women accounted for 40 percent of the total number of participants.
Riyadh Marathon 2025 Results
Kenya's Kemboi Emmanuel Kipchumba was crowned first place in the 42 km professional men's category, Ethiopia's Tilahun Abe Gashahun took second place, and Ethiopia's Muniye Abebaw Dessie took third place.
In the women's professional category, Ethiopia's Kebede Nestanet Gudeta was crowned first, Assefa Asmare Beyene took second place, and Amente Sorome Negash took third place. The first-place male and female winners each received USD30,000, while the second-place winners received USD20,000 and the third-place winners received USD10,000. In-kind gifts were also given to participants.
In the half marathon, the male and female winners each received a prize of USD5,000, while the second- and third-place winners received USD2,500 andUSD 2,000, respectively.
