List of Handicrafts in Najran Province
Najran Province, located southwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, is home to numerous handicrafts and industries, including:
- Janbiya (dagger) making: One of the traditional crafts. Al-Janabi is made from iron, with a handle crafted from the horns of certain animals, and often adorned with silver or gold elements.
- Palm frond weaving (Al-Khaws), from which cages, ropes, circular dining tables (Al-Sufra), bags, hats, baskets, hand fans, mattresses, brooms, and wicker baskets are made.
- Leather crafting: includes the production of bags, shoes, sheaths, various types of belts, Al-Mishrab (a leather container used to preserve water and keep it cool), and Al-Maizab(used to carry infants).
- Woodworking: includes doors, windows, household utensils, agricultural and industrial tools, cups, measuring containers, serving trays, and storage boxes.
- Stoneware making: Among its products are Al-Raha (the millstone) used to grind grains, and Al-Qirw, a stone container used for water storage.
- Traditional garment tailoring: includes garments such as Al-Miznadah and Al-Mukammam, traditionally worn by women, and Al-Mudhayyal, one of the most iconic garments still worn on special occasions today.
- Pottery making: includes items like Al-Birmah (a cooking pot), Al-Tannour (a bread oven), Al-Zeer (a clay jar for storing and cooling water), Al-Madahan (a dish used for serving food), and Al-Jamnah (a pot for preparing coffee).
