Industrial Capacity Development Center Initiative
The Industrial Capacity Development Center Initiative is a program aimed at establishing a center and a digital platform to standardize work procedures in the industrial sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Its goal is to develop industrial capabilities and meet the industrial market's needs. The initiative is one of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources' initiatives to localize promising industries.
Objectives of the Industrial Capacity Development Center Initiative
The Industrial Capacity Development Center Initiative aims to develop human capabilities, qualify industrial cadres, and establish and support industrial incubators. Additionally, it seeks to grow the industrial sector and address its gaps by connecting relevant entities, ultimately working toward the localization of promising industries.
The Industrial Incubators Program, affiliated with the Saudi Industrial Development Fund, in partnership with King Saud University and the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz Development Fund, has represented a significant leap in industrial training. The program offers consulting services to entrepreneurs in the early stages of preparing their projects in industry, mining, energy, and logistics sectors. These services include training plans, feasibility studies, vocational training, workshops, and legal, accounting, financial, marketing, and engineering consultations. The program also provides financing services to help launch the trainees' projects.
Outcomes of the Industrial Capacity Development Center Initiative
The Industrial Capacity Development Center Initiative has led to several outcomes that empower the industrial sector to achieve the goal of localizing promising industries. These outcomes encompass the creation of a digital platform, the qualification of human resources, the enhancement of industrial capabilities, and the establishment of the Industrial Capacity Development Center.
The center is one of the key outcomes, and its activities have contributed to developing numerous agreements. In 2021, the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources signed a memorandum of understanding with Qassim Scientific Center, aiming to support joint collaboration between the two parties to enhance the quality of human resources in the industrial sector. This collaboration focuses on developing specialized skills within specific fields, in addition to organizing and operating a dedicated pavilion for the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources at Qassim Scientific Center. Furthermore, the collaboration with the Industrial Capacity Development Center is also involved in implementing Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) programs to support industrial workforce development.
Localization of promising industries in Saudi Arabia
The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources has launched several initiatives to localize promising industries, such as pharmaceuticals, automotive, and food. These initiatives include the Trade Policy for Manufacturing Initiative, the Industrial Clusters Standards Initiative, the Combat Unfair Competition of International Trade Initiative, and the Development of Mechanisms, Standards, and Procedures of Custom Exemption for the Industrial Sector Initiative.
