How Is Saudi Coffee Made?
Methods of preparing Saudi coffee vary across the regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Each region follows its own traditions and local preferences. Most differences relate to the spices added to the coffee and the degree of coffee roasting.
Despite these regional variations, Saudi coffee preparation relies on a set of traditional ingredients that are common throughout Saudi Arabia.
To prepare Saudi coffee, bring eight hundred ml of water to a boil and add forty g of medium-roasted ground coffee. Then add spices such as cloves or saffron, depending on local customs.
Heat the mixture over medium heat for about seventeen minutes. Next, add thirty g of ground cardamom and stir for approximately two minutes.
Turn off the heat and allow the coffee to rest for two minutes before serving.
