Fakher Program is a national sport initiative launched by the Ministry of Sport to train and qualify persons with disabilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, discover their athletic capabilities, and develop them through several local and international competitions and camps across four different sport fields.

The program was launched on July 4, 2021, and is organized by the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee. It is part of the Quality of Life Program initiatives aimed at achieving the goals of Saudi Vision 2030.

Sport of Fakher Program

Fakher Program offers rehabilitation and training for persons with disabilities in four different sport fields: shooting, weightlifting, basketball, and athletics.

The program provides a supportive sport environment for Saudi athletes with disabilities of both genders by offering several services, including physical and health rehabilitation and the provision of prosthetic limbs and sport wheelchairs as needed.

The program also organizes three local and international camps for approximately 350 Saudis, in addition to hosting competitions that enhance the abilities of persons with disabilities to practice their sport hobbies professionally. Afterwards, participants are enrolled in local sport clubs affiliated with disability sport clubs to continue training regularly.

Objectives of Fakher Program

Fakher Program works to build a social framework and a healthy sport environment for persons with disabilities by achieving several goals, including: producing sport champions with disabilities at both local and international levels, improving the quality of life for persons with disabilities, enhancing their participation in sport activities, increasing the pool of athletic talent in Paralympic sport, and providing technical and professional support to develop Paralympic athletes.

Tasks of Fakher Program

Fakher Program carries out many tasks to serve persons with disabilities, including implementing various high-level sport rehabilitation and training programs, organizing domestic and international training camps, and offering persons with disabilities the opportunity to compete in order to achieve more global accomplishments by representing Saudi Arabia in local, regional, and international events.

Training camp for Fakher Program participants

On September 20, 2021, persons with disabilities participating in "Fakher Program" completed their month-long training camp in four different sport fields, marking the beginning of a new phase as they joined sport clubs for persons with disabilities across Saudi Arabia.
Participants experienced a unique journey through an indoor camp divided into three groups at King Salman Air Base in Riyadh City.
The camp contributed to expanding the base of persons with disabilities practicing various sport and discovering athletic potential.
The Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee, which supervises the program, provided participants with prosthetic sport limbs and wheelchairs as needed through companies accredited by the International Paralympic Committee. The committee also coordinated with all sport clubs for persons with disabilities across Saudi Arabia to receive the participants upon completing their training, enabling them to continue their athletic development within those clubs.
