His Excellency Yousef Bin Abdullah al-Benyan has been the Minister of Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia since September 27, 2022, and the chairman of the Council of Universities’ Affairs.

His education

He received a bachelor's in Economics from Al-Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, a master's in Industrial Management, and an executive degree from MIT Sloan School of Management.

His positions

He served as Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Basic Industries Corporation "SABIC," as well as Executive Vice President of Financial Affairs, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Strategic Business Unit of Chemicals, and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Human Resources at the company.

In 2020, al-Benyan was also appointed Chairman of the Group of Twenty’s Business Group "B20" during the Kingdom's G20 presidency.

His memberships

Al-Benyan has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Small and Medium Enterprises Bank since February 16, 2023. He previously served on a number of boards and committees in the Kingdom, including: Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association "GPCA"; Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Petrochemical Manufacturers Committee; Chairman of the Board of Directors of SABIC Agri-Nutrients; member of the U.S.-Saudi Business Council; and Chairman of the Board of Directors of SABIC Investment and Local Content Development Company 'Nusaned Investment'.

He was also a member of the Board of Directors of the General Authority of Foreign Trade, the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, the Board of Directors of the Saudi Ports Authority, the Board of Directors of the Saudi Information Technology Co. (SITE), the Board of Directors of the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul), foundation council of the Future Mobility Development Project, Global Business Council of the Bloomberg Global Business Forum, the Board of Directors of the Boao Forum for Asia, International Council of Chemical Associations, and the International Advisory Board of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and the International Advisory Board of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. Further, al-Benyan presented numerous lectures and work papers at various conferences, symposiums, and industrial and economic forums, globally, regionally, and locally.
