Prince al-Waleed attended Menlo College in California, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1979. He received his master's degree in Social Sciences from Syracuse University in New York in 1985.

Al-Waleed Bin Talal and entrepreneurship

In 1980, he founded the Kingdom Holding Company in Riyadh City, a major investment conglomerate that has achieved tremendous success over four decades. This success is attributed to a diversified investment portfolio comprising global brands, as well as regional and local investments. It invests in various sectors including e-commerce, digital services, social media, and banking and financial services. Additionally, it holds a prominent position globally in managing luxury hotels. In real estate, the Kingdom Holding Company owns the Kingdom Tower in Riyadh, which serves as its main headquarters, alongside local investments in petrochemicals, education, healthcare, aviation, and private equity.

Prince al-Waleed chairs the board of directors of Rotana Media Group, along with his investments in local, regional, and international portfolios, and his possession of a variety of assets.

On October 28, 2022, the Kingdom Holding Company and the private office of Prince al-Waleed announced the completion of the transfer of their stake in the social media platform X (previously known as Twitter) to the new rebrand X Corp., becoming X's second-largest shareholder.

Alwaleed Philanthropies

A non-profit organization founded by Prince al-Waleed Bin Talal that has been working, since the 1980s, in four main focus areas: women, interculturalism, emergency humanitarian disaster relief, and community development.

Alwaleed Philanthropies began as a first step towards humanitarian action through philanthropy and assistance provided by Prince al-Waleed as a businessman to beneficiaries. In the 1990s, philanthropy was expanded under the umbrella of the Kingdom Holding Company, and in 2000, the Kingdom Foundation for Strategic Initiatives was established.

In 2010, the foundation expanded its charitable activities, received a license, and was renamed the 'Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation'. In 2020, Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation and its three charities were consolidated under 'Alwaleed Philanthropies.' The foundation works at the global, regional, and local levels, with the unified objective of delivering charity without borders, and dedicates its efforts to its four main focus areas.
