Alwaleed Philanthropies

Alwaleed Philanthropies is a Saudi non-profit organization dedicated to building bridges for cultural understanding, community development, empowering women and youth, and providing relief. Founded in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1980, the organization has reached over one billion beneficiaries in 190 countries. It aims to serve humanity and provide essential support locally, regionally, and globally.

The journey of Alwaleed Philanthropies began in the early 1980s when Prince al-Waleed Bin Talal Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud started his career as an investor. His strategy for providing aid revolves around flexibility and a comprehensive outlook, moving beyond the concept of providing financial aid to focus on developmental, cultural, educational, and health investments through his humanitarian partners.

Prince al-Waleed's ventures expanded under the banner of "Kingdom Holding Company", alongside his philanthropic efforts. By the 1990s, Prince al-Waleed had become a leading global investor. To formalize his charitable activities, “the Kingdom Foundation for Strategic Initiatives” was established in 2000. In 2010, the foundation’s license was issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs (currently known as the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development), and was later renamed to Alwaleed Bin Talal Charity Foundation. In 2020, Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation and its three charity institutions were consolidated under one name ’Alwaleed Philanthropies’, guided by one vision: contributing to a world of tolerance, acceptance, equality, and opportunity for all.

’Alwaleed Philanthropies’ operates on a global, local, and regional scale, consisting of three specialized branches: one with a global focus, another dedicated to local initiatives within the Kingdom, and the third is devoted to addressing social and community needs in Lebanon. The foundation operates under one goal, which is conducting philanthropy 'without boundaries,' regardless of race or religion. Its efforts are focused on five specific areas: fostering intercultural understanding, developing communities, empowering women and youth, providing swift and effective disaster relief, and promoting sustainable environmental development. It strives to build a future dominated by tolerance, acceptance, equality, and opportunity for all.
