Maha Abdullah Al-Senan is a former member of the Shura Council in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, serving from October 20, 2020, to September 5, 2024. She held the position of advisor at the Ministry of Culture and worked as a faculty member at Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University (PNU) in Riyadh City.

Maha Al-Senan's academic qualifications

Maha Al-Senan holds a master's degree in Art Education - Visual Arts from the former Colleges of Girls (now PNU). She earned a Ph.D. in Archaeology and Museums - Ancient Arts from King Saud University (KSU). Additionally, she completed post-doctoral studies in Contemporary Islamic Art at Harvard University in the United States of America (USA), and an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) from Prince Mohammed Bin Salman College (MBSC) of Business and Entrepreneurship.

Maha Al-Senan's professional life

Maha Al-Senan worked as a teaching assistant and then as a lecturer at PNU from 1996 to 2009. She then served as the university's associate professor of art history from 2009 to 2016. From 2011 to 2016, she was appointed Executive Director of the Saudi Heritage Preservation Society. Then, she became an associate professor of art history at PNU from 2016 to 2018. She later served as the Director of Educational Programs at the General Authority for Culture (formerly) from 2018 to 2019, and then as an advisor to the Ministry of Culture from 2019 to 2020.

Maha Al-Senan's activities and memberships

Throughout her career, Maha Al-Senan delivered several lectures on arts inside and outside Saudi Arabia. She also participated in scientific papers at external forums and conferences between 2005 and 2016. From 2010 to 2017, she presented academic research at various international universities and moderated several scientific sessions and public lectures.

Al-Senan was a member of several committees, including the College Art Association (CAA), Middle East Studies Association (MESA), and Association for Modern and Contemporary Art (AMCA) in the USA. She was also a member of the Society for Arabian Studies in London, Britain, and the Union of Arab Archaeologists in Cairo, Egypt. Additionally, she was a member of Hawiya Company and held the position of board member within both the Craftsmen Association and the Visual Arts Association (VAA) in Saudi Arabia.
