The first issue of al-Madina Newspaper was published on Thursday, April 8, 1937. It was established by Ali Hafez and his brother, Othman. It is issued by al-Madina Organization for Press, Printing, and Publishing.
The newspaper was first issued in four pages in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah. It was published weekly. The number of its pages then increased and it was published bi-weekly. On June 25, 1963, it began its daily publishing, except for Fridays, after its headquarters relocated to Jeddah Governorate, when its editor-in-chief was Hisham Hafez. The newspaper was issued this way until the first issue, revoking the weekend, was issued on December 17, 1981, and has had daily issues ever since.
