The passenger area has a capacity of 1,700 vehicles per day, while the cargo area can handle up to 966 trucks daily.

It provides all necessary measures to ensure smooth traffic flow.

Importance of Al-Rub' Al-Khali (Empty Quarter) Border Crossing

Al-Rub' Al-Khali (Empty Quarter) Border Crossing is one of fourteen land border crossings managed by the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Border Guard, and the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority. These crossings connect Saudi Arabia with eight Gulf and Arab countries.

The establishment of Al-Rub' Al-Khali (Empty Quarter) Border Crossing followed the opening of the road linking Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman in December 2021. This road spans 564 km from Al-Batha Junction to Al-Rub' Al-Khali (Empty Quarter) Border Crossing on the Saudi-Omani border, with a construction cost exceeding SAR1.9 billion.

This crossing contributes to achieving the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy, which aims to establish Saudi Arabia as a global logistics hub and position the country among the top ten globally on the Logistics Performance Index.

Connection of Al-Rub' Al-Khali (Empty Quarter) Border Crossing with other crossings

Al-Rub' Al-Khali (Empty Quarter) Border Crossing connects to Al-Batha Border Crossing to the north on the Saudi-Emirati border via a land route traversing Al-Rub' Al-Khali (Empty Quarter) Desert, directly linking Saudi Arabia to the Sultanate of Oman. On the Omani side, it is adjacent to the Ramlat Khaylah Border Crossing.
