The National Family Safety Program is one of the national programs concerned with protecting the family from violence in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was established on November 18, 2005, and operates under the Directorate of Health Affairs at the Ministry of National Guard.

Objectives of the National Family Safety Program

The National Family Safety Program contributes to empowering the Kingdom's role in humanitarian fields. Furthermore, it participates in developing national laws to reduce domestic violence and strengthens partnerships and solidarity with stakeholders to unify joint national efforts. The program provides support for research and studies in the field of reducing and combating domestic violence and supplies knowledge and data to institutions and individuals.

Among the program's objectives are training and qualifying workers in relevant entities, participating in increasing social awareness about domestic violence and its long-term damages and impacts on society, providing and improving services for victims of domestic violence, developing programs specialized in prevention and supporting and rehabilitating victims, and contributing to preparing future national strategies and plans to combat and reduce domestic violence.

Departments of the National Family Safety Program

The National Family Safety Program consists of departments that perform various tasks and services, namely: the Main Department (Operation Management), which includes the Accounting and Human Resources Division, the Training and Development Department, the Prevention and Scientific Research Department, which includes the Advocacy and Prevention Division, the Scientific Research Department, the Community and Awareness Services Department, comprising the Public Relations and Media Division, and the Child Helpline Division, in addition to the Quality and Excellence Unit and the Informatics and Communications Unit.

"Women's Support Line" Project

In 2023, the Ministry of National Guard launched the "Women's Support Line" project, affiliated with the National Family Safety Program. It provides support and empowerment for women across Saudi provinces through a specialized team offering advice and guidance on the needs and challenges that women may face, and how to address them via the number 199022 available throughout the week.

National Family Safety Program application

In 2017, the National Family Safety Program launched an application that enables children and caregivers, parents, and educators to communicate directly in writing with consultants. It aims to facilitate access for children and children with special needs to the services of the Child Helpline and to open more channels of communication.

Branches of the National Family Safety Program

The headquarters of the National Family Safety Program is located in the capital, Riyadh. In 2013, an office was established at the Health Affairs of the Ministry of National Guard in Jeddah City, Makkah al-Mukarramah Province. Another office was established in 2014 at the Health Affairs of the Ministry of National Guard in Dammam, Eastern Province.
