
Camels in Saudi Arabia are divided into three main breeds. Other new breeds, such as the Sudanese, Pakistani, and Judiah camels coming from southwest Iraq can also be found. They are classified under the yellow Maghateer breed. The main breeds found in Saudi Arabia include:
Majaheem Camels:
Mostly found south of Saudi Arabia, particularly in al-Rub' al-Khali (Empty Quarter) Desert, these include the milh or malha' camel. They were initially raised by al-Dawasir and Al Murrah tribes before spreading to other tribes.
Maghateer Camels:
They are mostly found north of Saudi Arabia, They were raised among the tribes of Najd and other tribes, depending on supply and demand.
Humr Camels:
They are considered to be a different camel breed due to their different color and the environment in which they are found. They comprise sub-breeds, including the Omani or batiniya breed, the harar'ir breed, and the Hejazi or hidniyah breed.
