The Saudi Dodgeball Federation is an official Saudi federation recognized by the International Dodgeball Federation, affiliated with the Ministry of Sport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It works to achieve a set of strategic objectives that help create a generation of players who foster a culture of engagement through dodgeball.
Objectives of the Saudi Dodgeball Federation
The Saudi Dodgeball Federation aims to involve new audiences throughout the Kingdom by encouraging participation and empowerment, thus forming a national team qualified to represent Saudi Arabia in international events.
Dodgeball sport
It is a sport played between two teams, each consisting of six players, beginning with throwing the ball at the opposing team, which tries to avoid contact with the thrown ball, and ending with the elimination of all players on the opposing team to secure the win.
Rules of dodgeball sport
Six players from each team stand behind the back boundary line of the court before the round begins. Five balls are placed on the center line, two on the left side of the court, two on the right side, and one in the middle. A player may only pick up the balls on the left side of the court, while either team can pick up the ball in the middle. The player must bring the balls behind the activation line before throwing them.
A player is eliminated if struck by a ball coming from the opposing team on any part of the body. If a player catches a ball thrown by the opposing team, the thrower is eliminated, and the catcher can bring back a previously eliminated teammate. A player can also knock out any opponent by knocking the ball out of their hand with a thrown ball. In addition, the player may deflect incoming balls using the ball in their possession. Finally, a player is eliminated if they step on the outer boundary lines of the court.
Dodgeball
A ball made of tough yet soft fabric is used to enhance the player’s experience, featuring an outer layer of polyester with a four mm foam layer and an inflatable butyl bladder, recommended to be inflated to two lb per in². A three-in ball is used for adults (eighteen years and older), two six-in cloth dodgeballs for minors (twelve through seventeen years old), and one five-in cloth dodgeball for children (eleven years and under).
