There are two land border ports connecting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the State of Kuwait: al-Khafji and ar-Ruqi border ports. Al-Khafji border port is the first border port connecting the Kingdom to Kuwait. It was opened in 1970. It is located in al-Khafji Governorate, in the Eastern Province, on the border strip with Kuwait.
Ar-Ruqi is the second land border port connecting the Kingdom to Kuwait. It is also located in the Eastern Province, in Hafr al-Batin Governorate, on the border strip with Kuwait, extending across approximately 222 km.
