Abdulaziz Al-Muhanna enrolled at Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (IMSIU) in Riyadh City and earned a bachelor's in Sharia. He then obtained a master's and a doctorate in comparative jurisprudence from the High Judicial Institute.

Professional career of Abdulaziz Al-Muhanna

Abdulaziz Al-Muhanna worked in the judicial field and held various positions across different entities, most recently as a member of the Shura Council since October 20, 2020. His membership was renewed on September 6, 2024. He served as a judge in courts across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for nearly twenty-five years, during which he progressed through the judiciary ranks and held the position of appellate judge and legal assistant at the Ministry of Justice. He also chaired the Medical Error Review Committee at the Ministry of Health for thirteen years, as well as the First Judicial Committee at the Ministry of Culture and Media (before they were separated into two ministries), which was competent with adjudication in violations of the Law of Printed Materials and Publication. Additionally, he served as a Sharia advisor to the Estate Contributions Commission (Tasfiah) at the Ministry of Commerce and a Sharia advisor to the Human Rights Commission in Saudi Arabia.

Alongside his judicial work, Abdulaziz Al-Muhanna was involved in the academic field. He served as a faculty member at IMSIU and King Saud University (KSU), where he taught laws related to professional practice. He also prepared and delivered lectures on law and judiciary-related topics. Beyond the judiciary, he is a notary licensed by the Ministry of Justice. Al-Muhanna integrated teaching with advocacy by training and qualifying fresh graduates in law to prepare them for the labor market.

Memberships of Abdulaziz Al-Muhanna

Abdulaziz Al-Muhanna has held several memberships, including membership in the US-Saudi Business Council and the Saudi-British Joint Business Council. He also served as a member of the Standing Committee for Saudi Arbitration Centers and participated in one of the specialized committees that reviewed the Draft Code of Sharia Provisions. Additionally, he was a member of relevant Sharia committees in the field of Islamic banking.

During his tenure in the Shura Council, Abdulaziz Al-Muhanna served in several of its committees. He chaired the Human Rights Committee and headed the Tenth Parliamentary Friendship Committee, which includes the parliaments and councils of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Yemen, China, South Korea, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. He was also a member of the Islamic and Judicial Affairs Committee, a member of the Human Rights Committee, and a member of the Second Parliamentary Friendship Committee, which includes the councils and parliaments of the United Kingdom, Ireland, Iceland, Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia, Togo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Niger, Benin, and Cape Verde. In addition, he is a member of the Executive Committee of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union.
