
Riyadh Province, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, houses several historical castles and towers. The following offers a list of three historical castles and towers in Riyadh Province.
Imam Turki Bin Abdullah Castle
It is located at the center of al-Hulwah Village, in Hawtat Bani Tamim Governorate. It was named after Imam Turki Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Saud, the founder of the second Saudi State. It was built by Mohammed Bin Shaman in 1821 when Imam Turki sought refuge in al-Hulwah after Diriyah was demolished. The castle became a seat for the Emirate of al-Hulwah during the reign of the Founding King Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud. It covers an area of 18,400 m and consists of a mud wall featuring towers at its corners.
Raghbah's Historical Observation Tower
It is located in Raghba historical village, administratively affiliated with Thadiq Governorate. The observation tower was built approximately 180 years ago. It is the highest historical tower in Najd. Known as "al-Marqab," it has a cylindrical form and consists of six parts. Its height is around twenty-two m and has a diameter of around 4.5 m at its base. Its diameter gradually decreases to 1.5 m at its summit. It features a door at the eastern side of the base, enabling access from the town.
Munikh Mountain Observation Tower
It is located southwest of al-Majma'ah Ancient City, on Munikh Mountain. It has a cylindrical form and features sloping facades as it rises. Its height is thirteen m and has a diameter of ten m. The tower is one of the still-standing archaeological buildings in al-Majma'ah city to date. It was built in 1427.
