Camel Lexicon

The Camel Lexicon is a linguistic and cultural guide issued by King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSAA) in Saudi Arabia, on November 22, 2024, coinciding with the Year of the Camel 2024. The lexicon seeks to explore the cultural value of camels, their social status in the Kingdom, and their historical relationship with humans in the Arabian Peninsula.

The Camel Lexicon seeks to foster pride in historical and cultural heritage, explore the value of camels, forming an integral part of the national identity, pass such information to future generations, activate national principles and values, and attach utmost attention to the Arabic language.

Content of the Camel Lexicon

The Camel Lexicon offers various linguistic and cultural information presented under twenty-one sections. This information includes the names of camels in the Noble Quran, their names by age category, the names of camel herds, the names of camel body parts and sounds, the types of camel walking patterns, camel classification per gender, camel taxonomy, in addition to camel attributes in Arabic. The guide also sheds light on camel behavior and character. It shares some Arab proverbs and poetry featuring camels.
