Why Was Nufud al-ʽUrayq Natural Reserve Listed Under the List of the National Center for Wildlife?

Nufud al-ʽUrayq Natural Reserve was listed under the list of the National Center for Wildlife as it is one of the chlamydotis bird habitats in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is also an ancient protection zone for charity camels. It is known for its vegetation cover which includes Lycium, fire bush, and various annual plants.
Nufud al-ʽUrayq Natural Reserve is one of the protected areas located southwest of Qassim Province. The National Center for Wildlife announced its designation as a natural reserve in 1995. It covers an area of around 2,036 km.
It is one of the three areas comprising havens for restoring the number of chlamydotis birds. These areas include at-Taysiyah (currently known as Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve) and Saja Umm ar-Rimth.
These protected areas are operated by an administrative and technical agency that includes a scientific director for each reserve, and a team leader for rangers who carry out ground surveillance to monitor the reserve's wildlife and prevent violations and trespasses, assisted by an aerial surveillance team.
