Al-Dhuwaihra Mosque is a historic mosque located in the northeastern part of al-Bujairi District in Historical Diriyah, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is also known as al-Houta Mosque.

It is one of the old mosques built from mud. Before 1980, it was structurally connected to the residential buildings of the district on its northern and western sides. The mosque stands out among mud-built mosques for its large size, architectural style, and central location within the area.

Architecture of al-Dhuwaihra Mosque

Al-Dhuwaihra Mosque is bordered on its eastern side by a narrow pedestrian pathway and on its southern side by King Faisal Street. Its interior features numerous arcades, a moderately spacious circular area, and an underground retreat area located on its eastern side, constructed through excavation with its upper half built above ground. The mosque has two staircases, on the southern and northern sides, leading to its roof and its minaret, which is connected to the northern wall.

Restoration of al-Dhuwaihra Mosque

Al-Dhuwaihra Mosque was restored as part of the development of al-Bujairi District, which encompassed the entire district. It was inaugurated by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud during the opening of al-Bujairi District in Historical Diriyah in 2015. The mosque stands out as the only one that has retained its original condition despite the development and restoration efforts.
