The National Committee for Tobacco Control in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has launched a range of initiatives to realize its policies, which include monitoring tobacco use, enforcing advertising bans on tobacco products, protecting the public from tobacco smoke, offering cessation support, warning of tobacco dangers, and increasing tobacco prices.
Key initiatives launched by the committee include 'GATS' with the Ministry of Health, 'Studies' with the Ministry of Education, 'Protect' (Healthy Breaths) with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, 'Smoke-Free Prisons' with the Ministry of Interior, 'Drawers' with the Ministry of Education, 'Regulate' with the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, 'Track' with the Ministry of Finance, 'Ambassadors' with the Ministry of Sport, 'Expansion of Anti-Smoking Clinics' with the Ministry of Health, 'Mobile Clinics' with the Ministry of Education, 'Mobile Clinics' with the Ministry of Interior, 'Plain Packaging' with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, 'Awareness Campaigns through Friday Sermons' with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, 'Enforce' with the Ministry of Commerce, 'Ban' with the Ministry of Media, 'Raising the Minimum Prices' with the Ministry of Finance.
