Riyadh Foundation

The Riyadh Foundation is an independent entity operating under the umbrella of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City. It aims to support and develop institutional and social work and encourage research, studies, and social activities. The foundation was launched, and its board of directors was formed, by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, on September 26, 2024

The Board of Directors of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City issued a decision to form the Board of Directors for the Riyadh Foundation, chaired by Prince Mohammed Bin Salman. Ibrahim Mohammed al-Sultan, the CEO of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, was appointed as Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of the board, along with the membership of several ministers and officials.

The strategy of the Riyadh Foundation includes establishing a world-class social research center, developing and launching social programs that help meet social needs, and building a social entrepreneurship ecosystem. This will be achieved through an incubator and accelerator for social enterprise projects, along with establishing and managing social assets in Riyadh City.

The Riyadh Foundation is based on four main pillars, which are:

- Health and happiness: To enable Riyadh residents to live happy, healthy lives by promoting healthy habits.

- Empowerment and inclusion: To empower Riyadh residents to reach their full potential, allowing them to play active roles in the city's growth and development.

- Belonging: To preserve the community’s identity in Riyadh and foster a sense of belonging and connection to the city and its people through culture and art.

- Sustainability: To help make Riyadh an environmentally friendly city by adopting sustainable practices throughout the city.

The Riyadh Foundation aims to support and develop institutional and social work in all its forms, encourage research, studies, and social activities, and strengthen community contributions to advance non-profit sector programs in areas aligned with the foundation's goals. Additionally, it seeks to embed a culture of social work and promote its values.

The expected impact of the Riyadh Foundation includes an increase in the number of non-profit organizations, the creation of new job opportunities in the social sector, a boost in the non-profit sector’s contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP), a rise in the number of volunteers, and an overall improvement in quality of life.
