The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is among the leading countries in the petrochemical, mining, food, pharmaceutical, medical supplies, cement, construction materials, and equipment industries. As of the end of December 2023, the number of factories based in the Kingdom reached 11,549 factories, with a total investment of SAR1.541 trillion, marking a 10 percent raise from 2022 when there were approximately 10,518 factories.
Among the industries the Kingdom aims to localize is the military industry; localization in this sector has risen from 2 percent in 2018 to 13.7 percent in 2022.
The Kingdom is also working to distinguish itself in the automotive industry, targeting the production of approximately three hundred thousand vehicles annually by 2030. Additionally, the Kingdom is focusing on the manufacturing of water and thermal insulation, adhesives, equipment, fabricated metal products, non-metallic mineral products, rubber and plastic products, and furniture.
