Sindalah Island is a coral island located at the northern tip of the Red Sea, east of Ras Qasabah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and is administratively affiliated with Tabuk Province. The island is the first destination of NEOM Company for luxury marine tourism, as the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of NEOM, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, announced the launch of the Sindalah Island Development Project on December 5, 2022.

Sindalah Island location

Sindalah Island is situated at the northern tip of the Red Sea, east of Ras Qasabah, spanning an area of 0.3 km. It is an extension of Umm Ruwais Island, stretching longitudinally from the northeast to the southwest, reaching a maximum length of 1.8 km. The island widens at the southwest tip, narrowing in the middle, broadens again near its northeast tip, then tapers from the tip and bends northward.

Sindalah Island is nestled within coral reefs, encircling it and expanding further than its edges. It is characterized by a flat surface, not exceeding one m in height. Some of its coastlines form edges and rocky cliffs, and it is situated about 2.6 nm away from the coast.

Sindalah Island development program

On December 5, 2022, Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, the crown prince, announced the Sindalah Development Project, the first luxury marine tourism destination in NEOM, and one of the key projects supporting the national tourism strategy. It was designed to serve as the main gateway for marine trips in the Red Sea and to offer one of the world's most significant experiences in hospitality and entertainment, providing an area of 840,000 m, to become a global hub for yachts, while preserving the area's natural beauty.

The Sindalah Island Development Project features a bustling marina with eighty-six berths to accommodate all types of boats and large yachts, making it the main gateway to the Red Sea that offers exceptional cruising experiences. The project will provide world-class hotel rooms and hotel suites with high-end services, a luxury beach club, a yacht club, and a collection of international restaurants and shops.

For golf enthusiasts, the island will also dedicate a golf course measuring 6,474 yd (5,920m) with a par of 70. It features 18 teeing grounds and two nine-hole playing experiences.

Luxury yachts at Sindalah Island

On November 14, 2023, NEOM announced the partnership with 'Burgess,' the global leader company in luxury yachts, to provide a comprehensive range of services for clients and owners of luxury yachts in Sindalah Island. Through this partnership, 'Burgess' aims to provide a range of world-class yachting services, supporting NEOM's vision to position 'Sindalah' as a global tourism destination offering a comprehensive range of luxury yachting services.

Inauguration of Sindalah Island

On October 27, 2024, the Board of Directors of NEOM announced the opening of Sindalah Island, making it the first NEOM destination to welcome visitors. It offers a variety of options across three global hospitality facilities, including 440 rooms, 88 villas, and 218 hotel suites.

Sindalah Island's location allows yacht and ship owners from Europe, the Kingdom, and the Gulf countries to easily access it, as it is just 17 hours of sailing from destinations along the Mediterranean coast. Its waters are home to 1,100 species of fish, including 45 unique species, and 300 types of coral.

Saudi islands in the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf

The Kingdom houses numerous islands in the Red Sea and the Arabian Gulf, encompassing about 405 named islands. These islands represent about 31 percent of the total islands in the Kingdom, numbering approximately 1,300 islands, most of which are small in area, spanning less than one km.
