King Abdulaziz Medical City is one of the entities responsible for providing medical services and healthcare in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is done through its affiliated hospitals and treatment centers. It has a branch in the city of Jeddah and another in the capital, Riyadh. It specializes in offering its services to the personnel of the Ministry of National Guard and their families.
Establishment of King Abdulaziz Medical City
King Khalid Hospital was opened in 1982, and after expansions and the addition of medical development projects and specialized centers, its name was changed to King Abdulaziz Medical City (Jeddah Branch). King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh was also opened in 1982, and treating patients began in May 1983.

The city comprises a number of hospitals, administrative units, and medical centers, the most prominent of which are: the main hospital in Jeddah, the main hospital in Riyadh, King Abdulaziz Center for Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery, the Oncology Center, Ophthalmology and Ophthalmic Surgery, Liver Surgery and Transplantation Center, Emergency Medicine Administration, Dentistry and Dental Surgery Administration, the Intensive Care Center, the Burns Unit, among others.
Total capacity of King Abdulaziz Medical City
The total capacity of King Abdulaziz Medical City, with its two branches, is approximately 2,729 beds; of which about 1,973 beds are in the Riyadh branch and 756 beds are in the Jeddah branch. The city contributes to providing primary health services to soldiers in the field, including leading field military medicine, and is concerned with providing medical support to members of the National Guard on battlefields.
Educational services provided by King Abdulaziz Medical City
The medical city provides academic education, training, and rehabilitation services to its employees through the Military School of Health Sciences, which specializes in qualifying medical personnel to work in the National Guard units, in addition to King Saud Bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences, which provides educational services in the field of medicine and health care. The medical city also provides health education services and raises awareness about patients' rights and duties.
King Abdulaziz Medical City and its facilities have been accredited by the Joint Commission International (JCI), an international body that evaluates health centers globally.
