The Prophet's Mosque consists of ten minarets, with six towering at a height of 104 m, while the remaining four stand at around seventy m in height. The initial enhancements were carried out by King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman al-Saud between 1950 and 1955. During that period, he retained the two minarets on the southern side while demolishing the other three. In their place, two new minarets were constructed at the northern corners, each measuring seventy meters in height. Another significant development took place between 1986 and 1994, during which the six additional minarets, towering at 104 m, were constructed.
The introduction of minarets within the Prophet's Mosque dates back to Umar Ibn Abdulaziz during the construction of al-Walid Ibn Abdulmalik, where a minaret was installed in each corner of the mosque.
