Restoration of the Heritage Village in Shaqra

Some facilities, pathways, houses, and the old mosque within the Heritage Village in Shaqra have been restored by their owners and some prominent local supporters. Among Shaqra's traditional neighborhoods is "al-Husseini Neighborhood," which contains the houses of notable families that were once used for conducting commercial activities and making deals, such as "Al al-Jomaih House" and "al-Issa House." The historical village also includes the homes of scholars and judges, such as the residence of the scholar Abu Batin and Sheikh al-Abdullatif.

Historical houses in the Heritage Village of Shaqra

Among the historical houses in the Heritage Village of Shaqra is the historic al-Subaie House (Bayt al-Mal 'House of Money'), built in 1909. It served as the headquarters for Bayt al-Mal during the reign of King Abdulaziz Bin Abdulrahman Al Saud. The palace was an official residence during that historical period, where King Abdulaziz was received when passing through Shaqra or traveling to the holy sites for Hajj. The house was also a site for preparing armies that passed through Shaqra during the unification phase, as well as for receiving official delegations.

Archaeological sites in the Heritage Village of Shaqra

The Heritage Village of Shaqra includes several heritage sites, such as the old wall, which dates back to 1817, and the new wall, built in 1901. Additionally, there are watchtowers on the surrounding mountains, including the northern watchtower, southern watchtower, and al-Sayeh Tower. The village also features the old dam located east of the village at the confluence of Wadi al-Ghadir and Wadi al-Rimah, as well as ancient wells like al-Humaydiyah Well, and Wadi al-Rimah Dam, which was constructed in 1970.
