Zardun Tourist Destination is one of the sustainable eco-tourism destinations in NEOM, located on the coast of the Gulf of Aqaba, northwest of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is a resort and natural haven for relaxation amidst nature and wildlife. It was announced by the NEOM Board of Directors on January 24, 2024.
Design of Zardun Tourist Destination
Zardun Natural Resort overlooks the waters of the Gulf of Aqaba and features four ultra-luxury buildings that blend seamlessly with the surrounding natural landscapes. This destination combines luxury with the natural environment, aiming to offer high-end eco-tourism experiences to visitors.
Spanning approximately four km² from the mountains to the beach, Zardun is designed to be a sanctuary that preserves the rich biodiversity of local plants and animals. Visitors can explore the details of the destination through the advanced "Visitor Experience Center," which includes a 360-degree panoramic observation platform. This platform allows guests to view the wildlife and enjoy the natural scenery of the surrounding environment.
Facilities of Zardun Tourist Destination
Zardun Destination includes three luxurious boutique hotels, containing one hundred rooms and suites: "The Wedge, The Tower, and The Stacked". Each hotel is designed with a futuristic vision to enhance sustainability and maintain the pristine environment of the newly developed destination. Each hotel features a distinct topographical theme, providing unique guest experiences and offering various views of the valley and the beach.
The destination organizes activities such as hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, and other sports and recreational activities, including stargazing, meditation, and yoga. Visitors are also encouraged to join educational and field programs on nature conservation, preservation, and rewilding efforts.
Sustainability strategy in Zardun
Zardun Destination adopts a comprehensive sustainability strategy, implementing pioneering methods to preserve the environment. This strategy includes developing a series of oases to support diverse natural habitats. Furthermore, the province's water sources will help revive the natural ecosystem of local trees, plants, and animals. Zardun supports a vibrant marine ecosystem, including the conservation of coral reefs and other marine species in the Gulf of Aqaba, reflecting NEOM's commitment to environmental preservation.
